Jake was born in Bloomington, Indiana.   We were looking for a Vizsla with an excellent temperament that would be versatile and do well in agility, conformation, and especially field/hunt.   His mother, Dart (BISS DC AFC Red Oak Totem from Snowridge AX AXJ OF MH), is what drew us to the litter, she is an amazingly versatile Vizsla and excels in every venue she attempts.  She consistently places at Nationals in the field, show ring, and agility ring, and has an amazing temperament. She is a 3rd generation Specialty winner and is currently working towards her MACH title to become a triple champion....and she is all owner handled.

We like to say that Jake came to us "pre-programmed" with everything he needed to make him a great dog. He is a natural retriever, has a natural honor, stop to flush, is serious and focused in the field, and covers a lot of ground on his runs while always working for his handler.   He was listed in the Top 10 in the field during his puppy career, earned his Junior Hunter title at 7 months old in 4 straight passes and earned his first blue field trial ribbon at only 6 months old.  At 11 months old he earned a Prize 1 in NAVHDA's Natural Ability Test. Broke by Mark in 2.5 months over the summer, he finished his field championship and amateur field championship mostly at GSP and all breed trials in his first gun dog season at just 2 years of age, with no formal retrieve training. He is currently the #1 ranked Amateur Gun Dog vizsla in the country. He is also a rocket in the agility ring, with extreme animation and desire. We will start competing with him as soon as mom learns to keep up! He is pointed in the show ring and is headed back to the ring with Mark as his handler.

Like any Vizsla, he is a big snuggler and lover, preferring to be in a lap if at all possible.  He is extremely affectionate, loves to give kisses, and will attempt to pin you down to do so.  He is Mark's best buddy and companion, our baby's protector, is a very biddable dog, and is extremely smart and easy to train. Jake is the well-behaved dog in our house, he has been "good" since the day he came home, he truly wants to please. He is mellow and laid back, but also our silly goofball and the entertainment in our day. With a heart of gold and his irrestible "happy dance," he's everything we could have hoped for in a vizsla, and in our hearts there will never be another like him.
